Mitts by Eva's Gran

These mitts belong to Eva Kittelsen: Norwegian fashion and textile designer, teacher, visible mender, and 2015 Det Store Symesterskapet finalist (that's The Great Norwegian Sewing Bee as, of course, you know), and when I spotted them on her Instagram, I had to put them up here. They remind me of Annemor Sundbo's ragpile collection but they come directly down the family line. They're "knitted and mended by my grandmother once upon a time," says Eva. "Nowadays it's pretty much considered art. Two generations ago it was just a normal part of life."

Amen to that.
