I got this angora mix cableknit sweater in about 1990 and it's nothing special, it's just: I love it. So the two holes had to go. Since I liked their placement, I did an appliqué thing using some Edwardian cutwork lace. I separated two of the round motifs and attached them with an eyelet stitch in two shades of floss. But I didn't like the pretty, so I then went over in a random way with hairy black wool to mess it up a bit. Which had the side effect of attaching it properly.
